The deadline for Tunbridge Wells Borough Council’s budget consultation is fast approaching—tomorrow, 3 January 2025. This is an important opportunity for local residents to voice their concerns and shape the way the Council allocates resources for the coming year. With increasing pressure from the cost-of-living crisis, inflation, and the effects of austerity and the Covid pandemic, it’s crucial to let our Councillors know that we want more policies focused on tackling climate change and prioritising environmental sustainability.
Tunbridge Wells Council faces financial challenges—the projected deficit for 2025/26 stands at £250,000, and this is expected to rise to £10.4 million by 2029/30 unless effective measures are put in place. While only 9p in every pound collected from Council Tax goes towards local services provided by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, the financial strain affects all areas of service delivery, from public health to safety and education.
The consultation is open until 3 January and we encourage everyone in Tunbridge Wells to take part. It’s an excellent opportunity to tell the Council that we want more support for green policies that address climate change, support our natural resources, and invest in long-term sustainability for future generations.
We encourage everyone to share this information with their friends, family, and community members across the borough. The more voices we have calling for a sustainable, environmentally-conscious budget, the stronger our message will be.
Don’t miss out—your opinion counts! You can complete the online budget consultation survey here or by clicking the button below. It takes just a few minutes to complete, and it’s your chance to have a say in how the Council addresses financial challenges while also prioritising our planet’s future.
