Cllr Mark Hood, said: “The Reform motion simply rehashes the desperate division and disinformation we heard from them when they responded to our motion on violence against women and girls last year.
“Instead of taking pragmatic measures to protect Kent residents from harm they are scaremongering about immigration to distract from the fact that they have a policy of managed decline at the county council having overseen a £125m decline in the condition of Kent’s roads (the cost of bringing the condition of our roads has increased from £625m in March 2025 to £750m today) and are allowing the council’s estate of building to crumble.”
He added: “Reform needs a course in self-awareness because the small boats only started arriving once the Brexit Farage delivered washed away the Dublin agreement [an EU law determining that the first EU member state an asylum seeker enters is responsible for processing their claim]”.
Cllr Hood also said the claims made in the motion were “baseless and misleading”.
“The claims that Kent residents are footing the bill for irregular migration is simply incorrect, if anything KCC has seen the condition of many properties improved as a consequence of the Home Office funding capital improvements to properties used for accommodation,” he continued. “Other costs incurred are fully recovered from the government.”
