Yesterday, members of the Tonbridge Green Party gathered under the iconic Horse Chestnut tree by the new medical centre for a community litter pick in the River Lawn area. Working together with Councillors Mark Hood, Paul Stepto, and Anna Cope, the group aimed to clear litter and bring a fresh look to this popular local spot.
After assembling, the volunteers dispersed across the River Lawn, gathering rubbish and collecting leaves that had built up on the pathways. The results were impressive; in just one hour, the team managed to gather bags of litter and neatly clear away leaves, which were then bagged and set aside for collection by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council (TMBC).
This initiative, supported by local representatives, highlights the dedication of the Tonbridge Green Party to creating a cleaner, greener environment for all. Councillor Mark Hood commented, “It’s fantastic to see community members coming together to keep our green spaces beautiful.” Their efforts not only improved the aesthetic of the River Lawn but also served as a reminder of the difference that collective action can make.
