We want every resident in Kent to feel confident making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV). Whether you live in a home without off-street parking or work in a location without charging facilities, our goal is to ensure that reliable, affordable public charge points are within walking distance for everyone.
So far, Kent County Council have installed around 200 public charge points, primarily in car parks, offering cost-effective alternatives to rapid chargers. But there’s still a long way to go. With 80% of new cars sold in Great Britain set to be zero emissions by 2030, rising to 100% by 2035, the need for EV infrastructure has never been greater.
What’s Next?
Thanks to Government funding through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) scheme, the council are planning to significantly expand Kent’s public charging network. Over the next few years, we’ll:
- Install thousands of on-street public charge points for those without off-street parking.
- Appoint a charge point operator to manage and run the network.
Tell The Council Where You Want Charge Points
They need your help to identify the best locations for on-street charging points! If you own an EV or are thinking about making the switch, your input is invaluable.
You can suggest your street for a public charge point using our interactive map. Here’s how:
- Click the “+” symbol in the top left of the map.
- Drag and drop the pin onto your chosen location.
- Use the zoom function to get a closer view or search for an address using the magnifying glass.
- If there’s already a pin in your desired spot, feel free to add another—this helps us gauge interest!
- Answer the optional questions (we appreciate every response).
Your input will help shape the future of EV charging in Kent. While we can’t guarantee every suggested street will be suitable, all suggestions will be thoroughly investigated.
