North Tonbridge Set to Lose Vital Post Office – And There Are No Plans to Replace It

The people of North Tonbridge are about to lose a key community service, and the worst part? There are no plans to replace it.

Morrisons has announced the closure of its Martin Hardie Way store, which currently houses Higham Wood Post Office. This means that from April 14th, 2025, residents will be left without a local Post Office—and despite reviewing the situation, the Post Office has no intention of setting up a replacement branch.

Why This Closure is Bad News for Our Community

For many people, the Post Office isn’t just a place to send parcels. It’s a lifeline. This closure will hit North Tonbridge hard, and here’s why:

Elderly and vulnerable residents will struggle to reach alternative Post Office branches. Many rely on this branch for pensions, bills, and banking.
Small businesses in the area depend on the Post Office for financial services, parcel deliveries, and daily operations. Losing it will make things more difficult.
Access to cash services will be reduced. With more banks shutting down high street branches, the Post Office has been the only accessible option for many.

The decision to abandon North Tonbridge without a replacement Post Office is unacceptable. Residents deserve better.

What Can Be Done?

Raise your voice! If this Post Office is important to you, let the Post Office know by writing to their National Consultation Team. They need to hear from real people who will be affected.
Spread the word! Share this news with neighbours, local groups, and businesses who might not be aware of the closure.
Demand action! Local politicians and councillors must push for a proper solution—North Tonbridge cannot be left without vital Post Office services.
